Biography
Chelsea holds an MBiochem with a Year in Industry degree from the University of York. During her industrial placement, at MSD, she served as a bioinformatics intern in the Genome and Biomarker Sciences team, developing computational tools for target validation in target-based drug discovery. For her Master’s research project at the York Biomedical Research Institute, Chelsea focused on developing cellular assays to study glycosylation enzymes associated with human disease. In 2022, Chelsea participated in Cancer Research UK’s Undergraduate Summer Research Programme, spending eight weeks with Professor Sir Shankar Balasubramanian’s group in Cambridge. Her research centred on investigating G-quadruplex involvement in transcriptional enhancer activity. Chelsea then joined the Booth group through the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in BioDesign Engineering.
Outside of the lab, Chelsea is an active netball player and enjoys taking her cat for walks around London.
