Biography
Billy earned his MSci in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol where he developed a keen interest in bio-engineering. During his degree, he secured a Genetics Society research grant to develop new methods for the non-invasive extraction of genetic memory plasmids in Professor Thomas Gorochowski’s Biocompute Lab.
While at Bristol, he was also part of a collaboration between Professor Ash Toye and researchers at the University of Oxford, investigating methods to covalently attach therapeutics to red blood cells to prolong their circulatory half-life.
After graduating, Billy worked as a Research Officer at InPart, where he was responsible for connecting academics with R&D professionals to commercialise research.
Billy is currently a PhD researcher on the London Interdisciplinary Doctoral (LIDo) Training Programme, where he is using intrinsically disordered proteins to engineer synthetic membraneless organelles for synthetic cells, co-supervised by Dr Tim Nott at King’s College London and Dr Michael Booth at University College London
