Biography

Alex received his MSci degree in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Glasgow in 2023. During his undergraduate degree, he was awarded a competitively funded research scholarship by the EPSRC, wherein he synthesised luminescent polymer-lanthanide nanoparticles for applications in deep tissue imaging. Immediately afterwards, Alex completed a year-long industrial research placement with Bayer AG in Germany, focusing on the synthesis of pesticides in a hit-to-lead project. For his master’s project, Alex worked on the synthesis of a small molecule inhibitor of a protein kinase implicated in malaria.

In his spare time, Alex enjoys hiking, bouldering, and cooking.
