Biography
Sònia completed her bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at the University of Valencia, Spain, in 2009. After obtaining her MSc degree in Research and Rational Use of Drugs from the University of Valencia, she moved to Friedrich-Alexander Universität, Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, to work, under the supervision of Prof. Svetlana Tsogoeva, on organocathalysis. She then carried out her PhD at the University of Valencia under the supervision of Prof. Belén Abarca, Gloria Alzuet-Piña and Rafael Ballesteros. Her research during her PhD was focused on the synthesis and characterization of triazoloquinolinium salts, their interaction with DNA, and their potential activity as antitumoral agents. Sònia carried out her first postdoctoral training with Dr. Jorge González-García on the interaction of metal complexes with G-quadruplex of nucleic acids in the SUPRAMOL group, ICMOL, University of Valencia, Spain. Sònia joined the Booth group in 2022 to work on photocaged nucleic acids.
