Biography

Assala received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the Lebanese University, Lebanon. She carried out her PhD thesis at the University of Montpellier in France under the supervision of Prof. Benjamin Nottelet, in collaboration with Prof. Fawaz El Omar and Prof. Youssef Bakkour at the Lebanese University in Lebanon. During her PhD she focused on photochemical modification of degradable polyesters for health applications. Her first postdoctoral training was with Dr. Antoine Debuigne on the synthesis of thermoresponsive polypeptide-peptoid copolymers in CERM group, Liege, Belgium. She then moved to INSA Rouen Normadie, France to work on the development and characterisation of stimuli sensitive mixed micelles with Dr. Gaëlle Morandi. Assala joined the Booth group in 2019 to work on the development of controllable nucleic acids.

Polymer synthesis and modifications for biomedical applications.
